Childcare expansion

Did you know that we accept all forms of government-funded and tax-free Childcare Support? This includes the new entitlement to 15 hours of free childcare for working parents of two-year-olds introduced from April, 2024.

How to Apply

We are now accepting applications for 2024-25. If interested, complete our registration form and return it by email. There is a £25 registration fee that must be paid by bank transfer.

About us

Fleetville Community Playgroup is a not-for-profit pre-school registered by Ofsted which meets at Fleetville Community Centre in St Albans on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:45am to 1pm. See our Admissions and Fees section below for details. We can take up to 24 children from 2 years old.

Our aims are:

  •  To provide a safe, caring and inspiring setting where children can learn and grow.
  •  To support children’s emotional well-being from their early year’s experiences.
  •  To provide a broad range of challenging and fun play activities both indoors and outdoors (This is linked to the EYFS curriculum)
  •  To treat each child as unique.

We have strong links with the local nursery schools and have a good reputation for the social preparations of our children allowing easy transition.

My name is Debbie and I am the key worker on the red table. My children came through the playgroup. My favourite activities are play dough and watching the children in role play. I enjoy singing Cows In The Kitchen with the children and my favourite story to share is ‘Guess How Much I Love You?’

My name is Georgina (George) and I am the keyworker on yellow table. My children came to the Playgroup and now I am working here. My favourite activities are singing songs and dancing with the children. I also love playing outside with them and exploring the activities in the garden. My favourite book to read is ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’.

My name is Roksana and I am the key worker on blue table. I have always had a passion for working with young children and helping them to learn and develop in a fun and stimulating way. All of my children attended the playgroup as well as many members of my extended family.

My favourite activities are play-dough, singing and reading stories with the children. My favourite book is the ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.

Tina

My name is Tina and I help look after the children.

My favourite activities are construction and the zoo and farm. My favourite book is ‘We are Going on a Bear Hunt’.

Admissions & Fees

Sessions run Monday through Thursday, from 8:45 – 11:45am (Mornings) and from 11:45-2:45pm (Afternoons). There is an optional lunch club for children attending morning sessions that runs from 11:45am – 12:45pm.  For afternoon children, we also offer the option of an extended 3:00pm pickup for an additional charge. Children are able to attend the playgroup on any or all of the mornings or afternoons, places permitting.

Our fees are

Registration fee £25
Deposit Two weeks’ fees
Morning Session (8:45 – 11:45) £ 26
Lunch only (11:45 – 12:45) £ 8
Afternoon Session (11:45 – 2:45) £ 26
Extended session (15 minutes) £ 5

Notes:

The registration fee is paid by bank transfer at the time of submitting a registration form and is non-refundable. Our bank details are on the form.

A deposit equal to two weeks’ fees is required at the time of accepting your child’s offer of a place at the playgroup, and will be refunded in your child’s final term.

Daily Sessions are paid termly, at the start of each term, by bank transfer. Childcare Vouchers are accepted.

If you are planning to use government Childcare Support, please speak to the manager.

Management committee

A parent committee manages the Playgroup, as a registered charity. Its members are elected at our Annual General Meeting which is held in the Autumn term.

The committee manages the Playgroup’s finances and employs the staff as well as adopting and overseeing the implementation of policies. In addition, the committee organises fund raising activities throughout the year.
